    Description

    Old, but also artificially aged w/ aged top, simulated graft, French polished on reddish brown oil finish, medium curl two piece back, repaired seam separation on back, missing about 2" of edge on treble side of table, several repaired top cracks though not at soundpost or bassbar. Has some mostly illegible old handwriting on the inside of the top -- see the photos. Ebony fittings. Length of back is 14 1/4" (363mm), and string sounding length of 12 15/16" (329mm). Not entirely sure of the age of this violin, however, our very seasoned luthier declared this violin "old as dirt".  It has considerable evidence of being well played.  Includes a vintage case which is worn but functional.
